Winter Ice Capades!
On Sunday, February 24th, the
Centre County Ski Team left for Hidden Valley for another year of great
skiing at the 2008 Winter Games. Wynn was copilot for Coach Norm
and Matt was copilot for Coach Bregar along with Ron scouting for food
places. Alek and his family decided to caravan in their own car
and meet up with us at the slopes. Sunday was a very sunny day
for check-in and we all looked forward to a great day on the slopes.
Ron and Matt had their skis tuned for “fast and super fast”! So,
let the Games Begin! Monday was not sunny as expected, but the
team did very well despite the clouds and wind. All had great
runs and qualifiers on the courses! The courses were some of the
best they have skied in a long time! Matt, Wynn, Alek and Ron
burned up the slopes! Although Ron missed a gate while checking
out the girls at the bottom! Always have to watch out for Ron and
gatekeepers! Tuesday was rain, rain, and more rain! It
never stopped! The guys continued to do a great job even in the
rain and fog! It was hard to see the gates and we had to remind
Ron to look for gates not girls!
The team won lots of medals! Wynn had a streak of Silvers!
Ronald took home three golds (sorry Ron, no girls, only Gold)!
Matt just “too busy being fabulous” pulled in 2 Silvers and a
Bronze. Alek shushed his way to 2 bronze and a fourth! All
in all, we had a great time. Team Centre County has a great group
of athletes and they always show their great sportsmanship. A
great group of skiers! Congratulations guys on a job well done!!!
