Fall 2008 Tennis Clinic
The
fall tennis clinic has finally been scheduled. It
is a little later this year, scheduled for Sunday December 7th
from 2-4pm at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penn State Men’s
Tennis Team will once again be hosting. Please contact Mike Wolff
for more information.
The 2008 Summer Games
Tennis
The weather could not have been more perfect and the competition was
just as impressive. Matt, Sarah, and Margaret competed this year
representing Centre County. Matt competed in singles and brought
home the gold and Sarah and Margaret competed in one of the most
dramatic women's final matches we have seen for some time. More on that
later.
Matt, of course had an exciting singles final match, and kept up his
positive spirit even without having a doubles match to play (although
he did have an exciting exhibition singles match against the best male
player in the state!). Unfortunately, we greatly missed having
Cajee in attendance this year. She suffered a broken foot during
a tennis practice and was unable to attend (she would have been Matt's
doubles partner). We missed her greatly. Of course, true to
Cajee's spirit, she was there at the games cheering on her
teammates. Way to go Cajee!
Now, back to THE MATCH. By the time Sarah and Margaret's finals
match was called, Margaret was pooped from the heat and started to feel
very dizzy. The on-hand medical personnel thought that maybe she
should not play, but Margaret ate some food, drank some water, put a
bag of ice on her neck and decided to try and play. They were playing
against one of the strongest female players in the state from Blair
County. Needless to say, we all (including the medical staff)
watched closely as Margaret and Sarah beat the team from Blair to bring
home the gold.
The fall tennis clinic will be held this fall and hopefully will be led
by the Penn State Men's Tennis Team again. It was a blast last
year and hopefully they can make it again. More details will be
coming...
